Hi I’m Karla Ritchey {aka Lady Butterbug} and I started the Lady Butterbug retail business eight years ago after I retired from teaching high school. I became an Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Stockist in the Dallas area in 2011. In 2014 I purchased a run down 1920 filling station building in historic McKinney, TX. which after major renovation become a gift shop and paint store. It was so much fun renovating the main building and watching the business grow.

Eventually I enclosed the yard area using old wire fencing, vintage gates attached to cedar posts. Vintage white painted bicycles line the wire fence. Gravel was brought in as the yard and a small cottage was built offsite and moved into the yard area. This cottage is called the Maude Cottage after my maternal grandmother who I adored. A large brick patio was laid for extra seating. By chance a 1952 Chevy original owner farm truck came my way and I use it for advertising. I named the Chevy truck Glen T. truck after my maternal grandfather.

After much soul searching I recently closed the gift shop. Since Lady Butterbug property has been a great place to create great moments I decided to open the property as an event venue called Venue at Lady Butterbug. My trendy little complex is a perfect location for small weddings, elopement weddings, birthday parties, baby/wedding showers, workshops, luncheons, reunions, pop-ups, photo shoots, meetings, anniversary celebrations, office parties, holiday celebrations, etc.

You can design your day so you can be a guest at your own event and create memorable moments.

In the picture you can see the Glen T. truck and the Maude Cottage…plus of course the 1920 renovated building.
